A highly specialized construction company in North America had an urgent need for mission-critical management talent that its internal teams had struggled to find. In order to find a solution, the company engaged Allegis Global Solutions (AGS) to develop a short-term project-based recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) program aligned with its business size, goals and workforce strategy.
Ideally, the client hoped to find eight individuals for these niche management roles, which included regular travel away from their families and homes. Facing market constraints, high-demand skills, limited internal team organization, an insufficient applicant tracking system (ATS) and unreliable data tracking, the client chose AGS for its depth in recruiting expertise as well as its wide access to talent, including a proprietary internal candidate system of over 60 million vetted candidates.
Starting with just a two-month contract, the client asked the AGS team to find highly-skilled roles – project managers, project engineers, superintendents, schedulers, safety managers, and people skilled in mechanical, electrical and plumbing – that were critical to its business success.
Our program leaders initiated the partnership by focusing on understanding the client’s business and current recruitment process, then using the AI tools in Lightcast and Microsoft CoPilot to pinpoint required skills, gather trusted market insights and build recruitment marketing materials to attract top talent. Reviewing the market data with the client helped set realistic expectations and determine sourcing strategies. We then utilized our proprietary database of trusted candidates – along with Indeed and LinkedIn – to source talent that matched the skills needed for these niche roles.
Recognizing our team’s expertise and skill, the client extended the short-term program to a full year. In just under six months, the AGS team filled six of the eight roles, impressing the client while also providing the data needed to better understand the market challenges and constraints that had limited the client’s access to qualified candidates. Since filling the initial six roles, AGS introduced an additional five viable candidates to the client in just four months.
After a year with the project-based RPO program in place, the client evaluated the value of the partnership, putting its cost savings between $20,000 and $30,000 compared to competitive agencies. AGS accessed talent pools that the client’s internal team had not been able to tap into and provided current data that was invaluable for an organization in a highly niche, highly competitive market.
Moreover, the team quickly came up to speed on the nuances of the client’s industry, finding six hires in six months and delivering cost savings by applying RPO expertise and experience and deploying optimization techniques and evaluations within a short time frame.
Recognizing the value of its first experience with an RPO program and the AGS team’s ability to scale a program to match the size and needs of their business, the client extended its contract with AGS for a full year and is considering a more end-to-end RPO program. The client cited AGS’ diligence, knowledge and thorough approach as key factors in improving the candidate and hiring manager experience.
